- Dangel suspension
I have installed a Dangel front suspension into my Berlinette. Does it make sense to adapt torsion bars to the lower wishbones as it were used by the works rallye cars or is such a contruction to stong for the chassis and will cause damage to it ?
The Dangel suspension uses Teflon bushes. They are very hard indeed. But there is no experience to use it together with the additional bars.
- Technical Paper for Horse Power of 1300 S Engine
I have a 1300VB and I'm wondering why the official German papers list 1298cc instead of 1296cc.
There is a special situation about so-called tax specifications in Germany. Of course your engine has 1296cc but German tax offices required a different statement for your vehicle's papers. Don't worry.
- Camshaft for Gordini
I want to adapt a powerful camshaft to my Gordini 1296cc engine. What kind of alternatives do I have ?
First of all there is the original road version. Then you may consider a Ferry engineered one or that of Renault Sport department.
- GT Wheels
I want my Berlinette running on GT alloy wheels. What do I have to be aware of ?
GT alloy wheels have been built using sand forms. The quality of these wheels is very poor. Even those built in later time as a second edition in late eighties by demand of some enthusiasts are result of a cheap production. If you buy a used one you have to be aware that it may have wholes inside and pressure may go down with time. A newly initiated edition seems unrealisitic because the forms being damaged with each edition.
- Competition Fuel Tank
The competition cars used a mid mounted fuel tank. Where do I get one ?
The early Berlinettes were equipped with a tank built by alloy profiles. Later on Alpine used a material similiar to rubber. This was manufactured by a French company and called SUPERFLEXIT. Send a mail to Equipe Force Bleue and ask for the address for a personal reedition. The polyester parts which are necessary for encapsulating the tank are not available thus you have to laminate them on your own.
- Engine Label for 1300 VB
I intend to install a 1296cc Gordini engine into my 1300 VC. But German Technical Check requires an engine label. Which one do I need ?
The 1255cc Gordini (Alpine 1300 VA) engine is labeled by 812-00 shield on the block. Originally the 1300 VB had a special label '1300 S'. This one is very rare to find. In fact German Renault subsidiary published a document telling that even '812-00' has the specification of Alpine 1300 VB which is very confusing indeed. EFB has got such a paper. Please mail if you need it.
- Technical Certificate
How do I know whether chassis no and body no correspond to the type indicated by the papers ?
You should write to the technical department of Alpine company asking for the technical description of the car with your chassis number. They will return a description paper with the main information about that car including the time of delivery. Please mail Equipe Force Bleue for the address if you intend to write to Alpine.
