A110 with A5 Engine
Soon people realized that the 69 PS engine of the regular 1300 version was too weak to offer much driving fun.
When Alpine started production in Spain, this subsidiary not only offerd the 1300 but also a 1400 production car with an engine of the Renault Alpine A5 adapted to the A110 rear engine concept.
The French facilities never adopted this idea, but Alpine enthusiasts today often convert their 1300 VC to this 93 PS engine. Even replacing the regular Weber DIR carburator by two side draft Weber DCOE 40 became quite popular. The Gordini valve cover is a replication adapted to the broader cylinder head.
