Gordini Power
The most famous engine with Alpine Berlinette is the GORDINI. At first it was a 1255 ccm later
a 1296 ccm engine, which offered 115 PS for road use and about 135 PS in a competition car.
Later on a special 1440 ccm engine was built just for a handfull of rally cars.
The engine is based on the original Renault R8 S motor concept of Amedee Gordini and was improved
in some features by Marc Mignotet. It has double Weber DCOE 40 horizontal carburators. A 'G' on the valve cover is the eye catcher when opening the bonnet. 1300 G (1255ccm) and S (1296) versions had been delivered with this engine. The last evolution step was the 1440 ccm engine. Please have a look at the tuned engine of the Alpine 1300 S engine at Rosso Bianco Museum.
